“Ashes to ashes, without purpose. To die is our design
Mindless, we follow. Lord lead us, for we your children are blind”
Hope not, for your aspirations are foolish and finite
Powerless to see that your dreams are nothing more than a great deception
Conceited, you know nothing apart from your own arrogance
Mourning petty losses as you drive your fellow man into the earth
Senseless bastards
Self-worshiping maggots
Disgraced, bathing in the blood of one another
In the twisted face of calamity, you are all fucking cowards
Your abject forms will be devoured
Oh Morning Star, bless us with death
Extend your hand beyond the twilight of the universe
Only in suffering will we find rebirth
Oh Apollyon, return us to the dirt
Extend your hand beyond the twilight of the universe
Snuff out their pitiful lives and suffocate the light
“Ashes to ashes, without purpose. To die is our design
Mindless, we follow. Lord lead us, for we your children are blind”
Two impressive vocalists, variable and skilled guitarists and a tight and very powerful rhythm section. That plus the ability to write a song really leaves nothing left to desire here. mourner
Symphonic stuff in metal doesn’t make its way into my collection aside from a couple of early Cradle albums. The orch here though just ads to how huge this band sounds. It makes elements in the songs more immersive. There are plenty of breaks from orchestration where its in deathcore/slamming brutality mode. While not ignorant, the songs never play with time or get mathy making it accessible and memorable. Came out 2015? Impressed. Mitch Mitcherson
